As Christians we have been called to a higher standard than what obtains in the world around us. What might be permissible for others may not be acceptable for us as children of God. To whom much is given much is expected. We have been given so much and therefore much is also expected from us.  The Spirit of the Living God dwells in us and we must do our best not to grieve it.  We have been redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ and are expected to be holy just like our Heavenly Father.  We have been charged to follow the footsteps of Christ and most times the path we are to follow will not align with the world. They pretend to be holier than thou but, they are no better than the people they are preaching against. In fact, sometimes they are even worse. They seem to think that they are immune to God's judgment. Our passage today implores us to do what we preach. We need to be the mirror image of Christ here on earth. It is wrong for us to engage in the same behaviour that we are condemning. When we do so, we not only make mockery of the gospel, but also stand condemned with the same judgment we use to judge others. It also makes the gospel to be blasphemed among unbelievers.
